KOKIA and PUCK FAIR Concert - Tues 16 June

In association with Japan Ireland Travel & Ireland Japan Association.
Tuesday June 16, 2009.
Venue: The Button Factory (Temple Bar).

Japanese singer KOKIA will play a concert with Irish group PUCK FAIR this coming June.

KOKIA is a rising star from Tokyo and has already released 12 albums in an impressive career which has seen her gain popularity worldwide.

This seated performance is the only Irish date on her European tour schedule which will also take KOKIA to France, Belgium, Germany and Poland. This is her 3rd visit to perform concerts around Europe.

KOKIA’s concert in Paris at La Bataclan in 2007 was sold-out with an audience of 1200 attending. Her 10th anniversary concert at the Tokyo International Forum in 2008 was released on DVD, as was the Paris concert. As part of the 2009 Tour she will play for two nights in the famous Parisian “La Cigale” Theatre.

PUCK FAIR comprise of flutist BRIAN DUNNING, guitarist and musical director SEAN WHELAN and RIVERDANCE bodhran player ROBBIE HARRIS.

In 2008 the group recorded an album with KOKIA in Dublin entitled “FAIRY DANCE-KOKIA MEETS IRELAND” released in Japan on the ANCO/VICTOR label and they also released their own “FORGOTTEN CARNIVAL” album that same year. In 2006 KOKIA was in charge of writing an opening theme song and ending song for a nationwide premiere of the animated movie “Gin-iro no Kami no Agito” (“Spirits of the Past”).

The live shows allow her to show her charm and talent which has won so many dedicated fans, her quiet manner does not prepare the listener for the surprise of her powerful and unique voice, merging Classical/World music and Japanese and Irish styles together.. a very successful meeting between the two countries Japan and Ireland.

Tickets for this seated event are available online from www.tickets.ie and www.ticketmaster.ie and are priced at 22.50 Euro (not including booking fee) and are also available from selected stores.
