Historical Fiction and Japan
Historical fiction is a popular genre in Europe and the US. Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel’s novel about Tudor England, won the Man Booker Prize in 2009.

The 8th JLTI (Japanese Teachers of Ireland) Speech Contest was held on March 6th at the Clock Tower, Dublin 1. The event was assisted by the Japan Foundation and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, the Japanese Business Society in Ireland, and the Department of Education and Science.
Languagewise language school, set up in 2007, provides a comprehensive range of language courses, including Japanese. It has celebrated three years in business and is now Dublin's foremost language school.
Eileen KATO née Lynn (1932-2008) was the Mayo-born widow of a Japanese senior diplomat, and for fifteen years a goyōgakari to the Emperor. She was in Japan a recognised expert in Noh theatre, knew the Noh actors of her generation and was conversant with classical Noh drama in its original language.

The Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services will introduce a revised version of the test in 2010. The new test increases the number of test levels from 4 (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4) to 5 (N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5).

To help celebrate 100 years of the Japanese Gardens in Kildare National Irish Stud, the Ireland Japan Association and its associates worked very hard in putting together a weekend of cultural (SOLD OUT) events held over 3 days from May 14th to 16th.
